FROM THE NEWSLETTER

On October 4, 2011 City Council adopted Resolution 26-2011 opposing any attempt by the State of Ohio to centralize administration and/or collection of municipal income tax. The State of Ohio has already reduced local government funding from several sources, and our municipalities’ loss of revenue is estimated to exceed $500,000.00. Centralized collection would remove local control of our income tax revenue. Brook Park officials’ expressed concern in correspondence dated September 23, 2011 requesting to meet with state officials and/or their designees. Our letter supported creating a partnership with local community Mayors and Finance Directors to discuss this issue.
Our efforts and those of other municipalities may not be enough to stop the State from taking your money. You can help by opposing any centralized administration or collection of municipal income tax. Voice your opposition to our representatives at the email addresses shown below.
Representative Mike Foley: district14@ohr.state.oh.us
Senator Michael Skindell SD23@senate.state.oh.us
Municipal Income tax is your money, keep control of it!!
