 Twenty-six residents of Brook Park cruised the Caribbean the end of January. This was our first organized cruise and it was a huge success. All who participated had a great time and we look forward to planning another exciting adventure next year.
Are you 60+ and a resident of Brook Park? The Office of Aging is there for you. Call for information on all of our programs, senior club, and help with any questions on aging. 216-433-4136. Have you recently turned 65 and own your home? If so, you are eligible for the Homestead Exemption, a discount on your property tax. Just call our office or stop in and we will provide you with an application. There is no income requirement. We are always available to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. If we don’t know the answer we will certainly do our best to find you the answer. Many of you do not have access to a computer, we’ve done many inquiries for our residents and we are available for you.
On June 12th the Office of Aging will sponsor our spring walk, “Brook Park In The Park”. Information will be available April 1st. Mark your calendar and join us. You do not have to be a member of the Senior Club, just one of the special 60+ residents of the City of Brook Park.
On April 24th and 25th, we will travel to Niagara Falls, Canada. We will visit Fallsview Casino, the duty free store, stay overnight at the Hilton, and visit Seneca Niagara. The cost is $100.00 per person double occupancy, $90.00 per person triple occupancy and $140.00 single. There is limited room availability so if you are interested, sign up soon.
On December 17, 2007, we began a new senior transportation program called Senior Wheels. You must be at least 60 years old and be a Brook Park resident to register. The Office of Aging will provide you with a registration application. There is no income requirement. Vehicle operations are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Trips are scheduled based upon vehicle availability. Fares range from $1 to $3 each way. Residents use the service for medical appointments, tests, personal needs, haircuts, grocery shopping, visiting friends and family, etc…To register call 216-433-4136, to schedule a ride call 440-826-0800.


REACH Office
The REACH office will be open on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you have any needs, please contact Betty Nagy, REACH Coordinator at 216-433-4168. During the Holiday Season, the program will be accepting cash donations and donations of non-perishable goods for those less fortunate. Please mail or drop off donations at the REACH office, 5590 Smith Rd.

Senior Citizens Club
If you would like to meet new friends, go on some bus trips, or share stories and company, then you should consider becoming a part of the Brook Park Senior Club. The Club is associated with the Brook Park Recreation Department and it's members are Brook Park residents. They meet on Tuesdays at the Recreation Center. The director is Joan Corrigan. For more information, please call 216-433-1545. Blood Pressure is sponsored by SWGH Community Outreach. First Tuesday of each month is “Ask The Attorney”

Senior Employment Center
Are you over 40 and looking for a job? The Senior employment Center is a non-profit organization that assists workers aged 40+ with their job search. Located in Euclid, Ohio, the center offers job search assistance and training, computer help, employer contacts, and general assistance with job search matters and supplies. All services are free. Orientation is every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Call 216-731-4664 to sign up for an orientation date.

Shopping Schedule
Shopping schedule on Wednesdays is to Brook Park area merchants. To join our shoppers, call us on Tuesdays at 216-433-4136.

Grass Cutting/Snow Plowing
To participate in these programs, you may request an application by calling 216-433-1300. There are certain requirements that must be met to participate in these programs.

Blood Pressure Screenings
In conjunction with Southwest General Health Center and the Senior Connection, screenings
are held the 1st Tuesday of every month from 9:00 - Noon.

Prescription Drug Discount Program

The Mature RX Prescription Drug Program is available to all Brook Park residents. The program is not insurance and there is no membership fee or any charge to obtain the prescription card. Although the program does not cover all medications, most brand name drugs all generic medications are included. It is important to note the amount of the discount will vary from drug to drug. The program administrator is FFI Health Services. For more information or to sign-up, contact FFI Customer Service at 800-511-1314 and mention you are with Group #BROOK PARK. All calls must be directed to FFI.

Homestead Exemption Program
The Homestead Exemption Program offers reductions in property taxes for senior citizens and disabled individuals that meet income qualifications. For more information, call the Cuyahoga County Auditor's office at 216-443-7050.
