CITY OF BROOK PARK, OHIO
The Brook Park Civil Service Commission will conduct an examination for the position of Dispatcher/Clerk on September 8, 2012, at 9:00 a.m., sign-in starts at 8:30 a.m., in the Ford Middle School Media Center (library) 17001 Holland Rd, Brook Park, Ohio. Application forms are available at Brook Park City Hall, 6161 Engle Rd. between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Deadline for application filing is 12:00 noon on Friday, August 31, 2012. A non-refundable testing fee of $35.00 must accompany the completed application and must be in the form of a money order or cashiers check payable to the City of Brook Park. No cash will be accepted. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and must be at least 18 years old. All eligible candidates must complete and pass the CVSA test, psychological evaluation, background investigation, personal interview, and medical exam as well as the written test and assessment center, which includes a typing test, and any other method necessary to ascertain the applicantís qualifications.
Only the top 15 scorers in the written exam will advance to the Assessment portion of the examination process on September 22, 2012. The final results will include the written test with a weight of 60% and the assessment with a weight of 40%.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have education with specialized course work in general office practices, accounting or bookkeeping, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Must have working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; some knowledge of accounting principles and practices; skill in operation of communications switchboard, including computer-aided systems; personal computer including word processing software; radio; ability to perform cashier duties accurately; ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations.
Copies of the following certifications must be returned with the application: Driverís License, Proof of Citizenship (Birth Certificate/Passport), Copy of High School Diploma or equivalent. To obtain military service credit, proof of an honorable discharge from active duty service in the U.S. Military (DD214) must be filed at the time of application.
