The Brook Park Civil Service Commission consists of three Commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor serving six-year staggered terms. Commission meetings are open to the public and are generally held on the second Thursday of the month. The Commission services the Brook Park Police, Fire, and Service Departments as well as the Berea City School District.

The Commission is governed by the State of Ohio and the City Charter, Section 11.02. An in-depth yearly report is required by the State Personnel Board of Review. Our records are open to the public under the Public Records Policy.

Any open position in the Police and Fire Departments, both entry and promotional, are filled by competitive written examination. Announcements and application packets will be available on the City’s web site.
